AboutLiz

& her methodology

The methodology I have devised is based on breaking down the anatomical requirements of correct athletic posture, for both the horse and the rider, into its component parts. The Hiscox Methodology builds one skill upon the other in a mentally and physically logical sequence easily understood by the horse and rider. It is a method I devised over many years of study, research and experimentation finally perfecting it during my 7 years at the Liphook Equine Hospital. Whilst working for Liphook I was given horses presenting with sub-clinical lamenesses and given a restricted amount of time to either uncover the source of the lameness, or improve the horse enough to convince the owner that the horse was a valid candidate for rehabilitation. Many of these horses were on death row so to speak, so I had to adapt my knowledge to get results as quickly as possible.

I have now used my methodology on hundreds of horse rider combinations, and it has yet to fail. I am currently using it on a team of eight show jumping mares and their one rider, two friesan horses, one competing at medium level dressage, on several Lusitano stallions including one at Prix St George, three hunters, a mare suffering from sleep deprivation, and many others too numerous to mention here. All are improving remarkably quickly without stress, strain the use of any training aids, spurs or other harsh equipment. I can provide countless testimonials of how this methodology has restored hundreds of horse from a heterogenous (varied) background to soundness, performance and mental stability.

I use my qualifications as a human and equine physical therapist to address long standing restrictions of movement due to established patterns of tension in both the horse and the rider. I use body awareness techniques, again that I have created, to teach the riders how to control and positively influence not only their own bodies, but that of their horses. Equipped with this knowledge they are far less likely to fall prey to the human innate tendency to react to the equine stimulus in a completely counterproductive way.  I have also been studying equine and human brain development and am currently taking a human cognitive therapy course to delve deeper into the human psyche. The equine/human conundrum has long been a fascination of mine and is now the main focus of my studies.

A bit more about where I come from and some of my experience.

Here I am holding my new police dog! Well actually he's a tiny Lhasa Apso puppy belonging to one of my wonderful students.

I was born in the UK in London...Finchley. I moved to Switzerland at the age of two. I then moved to France then back to Switzerland (my mother was somewhat of a Nomad) and finally we moved to the States. I lived there for 23 years in Boston, Florida and in Kentucky while working for the United States Equestrian Federation in Kentucky as their sports director for Eventing and Vaulting. I then returned to the UK for several years before finally moving to Normandy.

I have been riding since the age of 3, training horses since the age of 14 and have travelled the world, including Spain, Germany, the US, the UK, Australia, Hawaii, France, Switzerland and most recently Finland, seeking knowledge, never satisfied with the current methods of training.  I have studied for years to put together my methodology. I can now make your job easier...I have done ALL the studying for you :-)!!!!
